During participation in the BBC Make It Digital trainee-ship scheme I was provided lectures and and team-based training at the Belfast Metropolitan College in Millfield & Castlereagh from local, media industry experts such as:
Aidan Browne (Committee Member at Royal Television Society, Artistic Director of Youth Lyric)
Michelle Napier (UTV Presenter, Journalist)
Emma Dunseith (Executive Producer, Digital & Learning Department at BBC Northern Ireland)
After passing my training, I was offered a rare placement with the BBC to work as a Trainee Producer within the Digital & Learning department of the Blackstaff building. During my time I worked under the supervision of David Monahan (Producer, BBC Northern Ireland) helping to create & edit content for the BBC Make It website including:
Assist in recce & shooting of vox-pops with industry experts in catering & hospitality industries.
Provide technical set-up and utilise innovative camera technology with team..
Edit, render and export audio-visual content to be utilised on BBC Make It website.
As a result of the trainee-ship, I was offered a Freelance Researcher role in the same department for which I accepted. More information about this vacancy can be found here.
