Entering my second year in university and as a press editor producing articles and live-blogs, I was offered a role in Copenhagen in the website's press delegation during the promotion weeks and live shows at Eurovision. Having accepted, I made it my main goal to learn all that I possibly could in the short space of time while completing my university coursework alongside.
Copenhagen was a unique experience from the daily security and pass clearances to the new roles and responsibilities given to me. This has since been my main learning in regards to working within the contest. Throughout the two weeks, I produced rehearsal blogs with recordings, took video interviews and produced summary articles.
In reflection, this event provided me with the insight and stamina to produce the best content possible within the short time conceivable. I was able to start to lead and manage rather than needed to be supervised. Through this and the following years of experience, I could consider artist management.
One of UK and Ireland's leading festivals dedicated to all things: digital tech, media and music which took place in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland in 2013.
While completing my university course I decided to participate in the festival to gain experience in event management and the importance of time management. The festival reached it's highest attendance yet for which I was able to monitor the latest advancements from upcoming and industry professionals advancement in creative technology including sound design and digital performance art.
I discovered the event briefly in 2007 and officially in 2008. Once I saw the full event, I was hooked to the concept and became an avid follower of the contest. After completing my A-levels and having been accepted into University in 2012, I decided to embark towards a role that allowed myself creative output in regards to the show.
I began applying for numerous popular news-sites that specialised in ESC-related news. My press work with the Eurovision Song Contest started officially in February 2013 when I got accepted as a press editor within Australian news-site; ESCDaily.com.
As this was my first encounter to online journalism, I discovered quickly the steep learning curve needed to monitor, write and produce articles and content relating to the show on a daily basis. Through the following months I found myself adapt to the process and decided to make the jump to on-site journalism.
After all entries were chosen, an opportunity presented itself to attend 'Eurovision in Concert': one of the largest promo concerts - as a press member. I embarked on a solo flight to Amsterdam where I stayed for the weekend-long event. During the experience, I was able to interview artists, view the performers live and gain first-hand experience of what it takes to organise an event to such a degree.
During the actual event in Malmö, Sweden. I remained an online writer throughout the event however could not attend as it was too soon since my inclusion with the media site. However the previous promo concert prepared me to attend my first event in 2014.
An interactive application I produced in collaboration with Ilie-Marcel Moldovan that utilised live-data from Eurovision 2013 to display the current progress of each country's participation within the contest; from confirmed attendance to artist and song selections.
Application was developed utilising Processing alongside Javascript. Allows user to select individual countries from their region and view full entry profile.
Code is available to use and re-work via "Link to Source" button below.

A young girl finds herself lost in a small forest. Once she finds what's lurking inside she runs for her life before she'll become the next trapped victim.
Modern, alternate re-telling of the Biblical story of King David and Jonathan from Samuel I & II from the perspective they're lovers as can be interpreted through the readings.
Key phrases that would support the claim include the passages “Jonathan was bound to the soul of David and Jonathan loved him like his own soul.” [1 Samuel 18:1]. Near the end of the book, the Bible mentions that “they kissed each other” and Jonathan said to David: “The Lord shall be between me and you, and between my descendants and your descendants forever.” [1 Samuel 20:41-42].
Antagonist within the book would be King Saul who is the the father of Jonathan. After being de-throned by David for defeating Goliath showcases hatred and disgust for the two. Overall,. I believe it would be a very interesting film concept with a positive message as God is noted saying that David is a true hero for all.
Back in 2009 when I was 13 years old, I was asked to produce a music track for an aspiring video game designer after my previous composition "Darkened Soul" began to trend on Newgrounds.com. This was one of the title tracks used within his flash game.
This was my first ever published composition - it took me under a week to compose.
I was asked to produce a one minute+ track for a video game music competition. So I started writing "Darkened Soul" using just the piano and violin and this was the end result back in 2009 when I was 13 years old.
